FROM SIN TO SALVATION
In order to understand salvation you need to understand why you need salvation. This need began shortly after creation. God created Adam in God’s own image from the dust of the ground and breathed into him the very breath of God, and Adam became a living soul. (Genesis 2:7) God’s breath is God’s Spirit. God breathed his spirit into Adam, and he became alive physically and spiritually. God then created Eve from the rib of Adam, and they became one – male and female – joined together as a couple.
He gave Adam instructions on what to do, and what not to do. He was to name all the animals. He was to tend to the garden, taking care of the Tree of Life and all the other trees. God told him that there was a fruit of a tree in the midst of the garden (the tree of the knowledge of good and evil) that they were not to eat of. They could eat any of the other fruit-bearing trees, including the Tree of Life, but not this one tree - the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God said in Genesis 2:17 that if they ate of that tree they would surely die – it was off limits.
One day Eve was approached by a serpent, that was more subtle than any other beast that God had created. He came walking up to Eve and asked her a question, “…Yea, hath God said, you shouldn’t eat of every tree in the garden.” (Genesis 3:1) She responded with: … “We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden, but of the fruit of the one in the midst of the garden we can’t eat or touch, because God said we would die if we did." (Genesis 3:2-3.)
Then the serpent put doubt into Eve’s mind by saying “you won’t die. When you eat of it, you’ll be like gods, knowing good and evil.” This put doubt into Eve’s mind, and this is where things changed. Adam and Eve were together, but they didn’t pay heed to God’s warning. Remember, they were created in the image of God, which meant they were like God with a spirit, a soul and body. The doubt that the serpent brought made them think that God was holding out on them. That is always the way the devil speaks, to bring doubt to what God has said.
They saw that the fruit looked good to eat and pleasant to the eyes, and they both ate of the fruit. They didn’t fall over dead. So, did God lie? No. They died immediately when the Spirit of God departed from their spirit. Physical death came later as a result of the spiritual death. Because of this, the serpent was cursed to crawl on his belly, and God said that the seed of the woman would crush its head. Then he told Eve that she would have pain in the bearing of children. God then had to put them out of the garden because if they stayed there and ate of the tree of life they would always be in a sinful spiritually dead state. It took a long time after they sinned, but they both eventually died physically.
The promise that God made came to pass when Jesus came. Women do not have seed, men do. The seed of God was planted in the womb of Mary when Holy Spirit overshadowed her, and she conceived without a man’s seed, and gave birth to Jesus. Jesus did not have the nature of Adam, which is a sinful nature, because he was conceived with the seed of God. Jesus was tempted as he grew and matured, but he did not give in to sin. Only sinless blood could redeem mankind. He became a sacrifice for sin when he died on the cross and shed his sinless blood. His death crushed the head of Satan, and made a way for each of us to come back to God because he paid for our redemption with his sinless blood.
Since all of us have a sin nature because of Father Adam (we are all his descendants born with a dead spirit) we all need to have our spirits brought to life. When we repent (turn away from) of our sins and ask Jesus to forgive us, the Spirit of God comes into our spirit and makes our spirit alive. It is born again. Without being born again, you cannot have eternal life.
The life comes through Jesus Christ. So, the question is: Have you repented of your sin and invited Jesus Christ to be the Lord of your life? If so, then you are born again.
If not, then repeat this prayer: Father God, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I am sorry that I have sinned, and I need a Savior. I ask you to forgive me of my sin, and I invite Jesus Christ to come into my life and be my Savior. Come now Jesus. Amen.
If you prayed this prayer, then your spirit is born again, and you have a new Godly nature. Now you must find a Church that will help guide you in your walk with God. God bless you in your new walk!
