HAVING DONE ALL STAND

HAVING DONE ALL STAND

In Ephesians 6 we are taught about the armor of God. Each piece represents a way of protection to be used against Satan in his attacks. It tells us in vs. 13 “Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” We don’t wrestle with individuals (flesh and blood) but we wrestle against principalities, powers and rulers of darkness in this world in high (authority) places. We have to know who we are in Christ to do this.

Most Christians after they have been saved and go to church are taught very little about their authority. Many even fear the devil. I heard one person say, “The devil has been after me all day, praise his holy name.” That is absurd. We give no praise to Satan whatsoever. We stand on the promises of God. That is the only thing we can stand on.

Let's talk about how we stand.  The helmet protects our soul – our mind, will and emotions. Without the helmet put over our thoughts we lose every time. The helmet represents our salvation. We must remind ourselves that we are not just an old sinner saved by grace. We have been made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. We stand on that promise.

Then we  put truth around us like a belt. God’s word is the only truth that matters. Jesus said he is the “truth”, so literally, we put Jesus around our loins. This is speaking of our reproductive area, physically and spiritually . Satan does not want you to be fruitful and will try to stop this power. Through Jesus, we have the truth that continues to grow and produce fruit in our lives. His word is his truth and we speak it and we stand on it.

The shield of faith quenches all the enemy’s darts that he hurls at us. Hebrews tells us that without faith it is impossible to please God. So, we increase our faith, by hearing the word of God and the promises in the word, and stand in faith against the enemy.

The sword of the Spirit is what we fight with. It is the word of God. We wield it against the lies of Satan and stand on the word. We do not fear the words Satan barrages us with. The sword (word) fights for us!

We put on the shoes of peace while we stand. We don’t let the things of the world cause us to be angry because we wear peace on our feet wherever we go. We stay in peace when we stand on the promises!

Then we pray in the Spirit, which means praying in tongues. This builds us up in our faith and in the love of God (Jude 20). You should pray in the spirit every day and throughout each day.  It builds you up and keeps your thoughts on the things of God.

While we stand, we praise God. Let melody ring in your heart and with your voice. Do not give in to the fear that is present in the world. You must stand, believing that God has a plan and it is good.

Having done all, we stand until the promise manifests. It may take time, but it will come!
