When I was in my late teens (c.1965-1967) I read a life-changing book on the subject of “faith rest.” It helped me understand how we should apply our faith in Jesus for whatever may be our petition.
John 14:13-14 (KJV) says, “and whatsoever ye shall ask in my name (Jesus), that will I do…if ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.” That is the promise of God in Jesus’ own spoken words.
James 1:6 says, “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering…” A “wavering faith” is not faith at all. It is only “hoping” for what you asked. “Hope” is not expectation. “Faith” is absolute unwavering expectation. You do not have to work for “it” beg for “it”, plead for “it”, you just know you have “it” regardless of whether or not it has yet manifested (shown up).
When you truly have that kind of faith, you can “rest assured” it is yours! Just “rest” your faith upon Him, knowing that “it is done.” Yes, “God’s got this “now, the ball is no longer in your court. Just rest your faith on Him, knowing in full confidence that He heard you (He always does) and has already provided the answer, albeit in His own timing, not necessarily in our timing.
He never fails. Just let your petition “rest in faith.” Rest on his promises.
